Your notable roles, such as Cassandra "Cassie" Sutton in the acclaimed series “Lincoln Heights” and Kita Whitmore in BET’s first scripted series “Let's Stay Together”, have resonated with audiences. What have been some of your favorite roles and can you share some of your most memorable experiences?

Being cast in the Image Award-winning drama series’ Lincoln Heights as well Let’s Stay Together was definitely a dream come true for me as a thespian.  I am a NAACP Theater nominated actress for a play I performed in called Haints, Leaving and Conjure-Man where I portrayed a role that was based in New Orleans, and fast forward I am elated to play a character named Ernestine who is a Creole Woman from New Orleans. This experience has been so memorable because of the remarkable time on set with The Family Business: New Orleans cast & crew which is a fun and hard-working.

Congratulations on landing a role in the upcoming BET series, 'The Family Business: New Orleans'! What an exciting opportunity to join the extension of this remarkable series. As you continue to flourish in your acting career, what aspects do you find most fulfilling and enjoyable about your work on screen?

Thank you so much Geaux Queen Magazine and my career has been a joyful journey creating all the characters I have portrayed in my thirty-year career. The aspects I find fulfilling and enjoyable about my on-screen work is starring opposite of some of the industry’s best talent in the world. I am so grateful to work in scenes with the entertainment industry’s finest and award-winning thespians globally. I have been fortunate to be in classics such as Save The Last Dance, He Who Findeth, Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants, A Cinderella Story and Akeelah and The Bee. I did a lot of stage training with Columbia College Chicago, Piven Theater and Towne Street Theater which tremendously helped hone my skills.

As a Chicago native, your dedication to giving back to your community through the Erica Hubbard Foundation is commendable. Do you think it is important for one to give back to their communities as a way to stay grounded? Also, can you share any memorable experiences or moments of impact from your work with youth in at-risk communities?

Extremely important to give-back and help our communities in any way we all possibly can by either volunteering or donating funds to a particular cause. I am honored to serve as a humanitarian. My most memorable experiences are giving multiple scholarships to at-risk youth who were graduating high school attending a college/university.

Modeling, acting, and philanthropy—your career has spanned various fields. Can you share some insight on how you have found consistent longevity in your career?

I was a FORD Model and booked a lot of campaigns early-on in my career and I think me being the Noxzema Girl for a while helped my visibility when I went on auditions and booked other opportunities. I believe my longevity in the acting world just comes from having the right team to support my career. I  am grateful that I have an amazing team to push my career so it sustains. It also is tremendous that a lot of my audience who watches my TV/Film work likes the roles I pick and loves the characters I portray. I am so appreciative of all the support throughout the years. Recently, I started producing projects as well for viewers to enjoy, and I became a Producers Guild of America Member as well.

You look absolutely amazing! Balancing a demanding career with personal well-being can be challenging. How do you prioritize self-care in your daily life, and are there any rituals or practices that you find particularly beneficial for maintaining balance?

Operating in gratitude and being thankful everyday helps with my wellness. I try to  be mindful to keep an optimistic persona so my stress load is lessen when dealing with any situation encountered. I believe self-care is so important to my wellness and even took a class with Yale University on The Science of Wellness to learn different coping techniques in stressful environments. Life coaches are excellent to have to help you excel in life as well.

Internal and emotional self-care is also very important. What are some self-care habits or routines that you've incorporated into your life that have proven to be particularly nourishing for your emotional and mental health?

Self-care routines are vital to keep an upbeat energy for my life. What I consume plays an important role on my energy, wellness, health and overall well-being. My diet consists of a lot of arugula, sprouts, and other green veggies. I also use aroma therapy for relaxation as well listen to sound baths.

In an industry that often emphasizes external validation, how do you cultivate self-love and confidence in yourself, independent of external recognition or success?

I cultivate self-love through my daily routine of caring for myself rather I am reading self- help books, yoga, listening to music, meditating/praying, centering myself around family and friends who genuinely have my best interest and love me immensely.

As an advocate for youth empowerment, what advice would you give to young people who may struggle with self-esteem and confidence in pursuing their dreams?

Being the Executive Director of The Erica Hubbard Foundation working as a philanthropist the best advice I can give to youth (to empower) is make sure you say mantras or affirmations daily to uplift your spirit, journal and also find a hobby you enjoy! All three techniques will boost your self-esteem. To enhance your confidence, stay away from people who always complain and surround yourself with people who always compliment you! I just wrote a book called “Answering The Call” which gives insightful advice on maneuvering through life with ease and certainty.

As we wrap up our conversation, Erica, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for sharing your insights and experiences with us. It's been an absolute honor to have you grace the pages of our magazine, and we're thrilled to celebrate your accomplishments.

Before we conclude, could you leave our readers with some positive affirmations or words of wisdom that have guided you on your journey? Thank you again for your time and for allowing us to give you the recognition you so rightfully deserve?

Positive words of wisdom that has guided me through life is when life presents itself with a difficult moment, be sure to face the challenging dilemma knowing it’s not what happens to you but how you react to the situation to turn it into something good and learn from each moment.
